IC 2118 (also known as Witch Head Nebula due to its shape) is an extremely faint reflection nebula believed to be an ancient supernova remnant or gas cloud illuminated by nearby supergiant star Rigel in the constellation of Orion. The bright gradient that can be seen in the top left hand corner of this image is light being emitted from a Rigel.

This image is about 6 hours of LRGB data taken from a dark site in south central Florida known as the Starry Night Ranch.

In this close up cropped version of the image you can see the nature of the dust particles, reflecting blue light better than red, giving the Witch Head its bluish hue in its clouds.

The Horsehead Nebula, also known as Barnard 33

Horsehead Nebula, also known as Barnard 33, is a dark nebula located in the constellation Orion. It sits within the emission nebula IC 434, which is illuminated by the nearby star Sigma Orionis. The distinctive shape of the Horsehead Nebula resembles that of a horse's head, hence its name.

The OWL Nebula

The Owl Nebula is a planetary nebula located approximately 2,030 light years away in the constellation Ursa Major.This object is known by the catalogue identifiers Messier Object 97 (M97) and NGC 3587. It was discovered by French astronomer Pierre Méchain on February 16, 1781 When William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse observed the nebula in 1848, his hand-drawn illustration resembled an owl's head. It has been known as the owl nebula ever since.
